Second Chance...

From the moment I arrived at Sheepfold I felt as though this would be the new start that me and my kids have been praying for. Turns out it’s exactly what I’ve been praying for. My kids are letting down their guard and letting their negative insecurities go.

The House Managers are all sweet, warm and inviting. The patience that they have with each resident is amazing. I’m spending more time with my kids by just being with them here, walking, playing and talking. We are getting back to normal.

I am so thankful for this reboot and second chance opportunity to get back on my feet. I have a great chance to do it right this time. After dealing with domestic abuse, homelessness, feeling alone and feeling like I have failed my kids (especially my newborn son), this place is giving me a new fire that is deep in my soul. I now have a spark to get myself up again and show everyone that I allowed to hurt me, or make me feel the way I’ve been feeling for the last 2 years; that I am a fighter, a wonderful mother and I’m God’s daughter! I just needed that chance and Sheepfold gave it to me.

NOTE: Our resident loves her car, she feels so blessed. She was talking to God about the difficulties of having to take the bus. And she cried telling me this story because she was overwhelmed by God and how faithful he is. How he had already provided for her needs. And how confident she is that he is taking care of her. She thanks God, the donor and the Sheepfold for helping her through this season of her life.

This is love: He loved us long before we loved him. It was his love, not ours. He proved it by sending his Son to be the pleasing sacrificial offering to take away our sins. Delightfully loved ones, if he loved us with such tremendous love, then “loving one another” should be our way of life!

- John 4:10-11 TPT

Following the Spirit

One of our Moms and her daughter had been working through rebuilding their relationship while they were here at he Sheepfold. At the beginning they both learned how to pray and to read the Bible and through the power of the Holy Spirit, consistent prayer and Bible studies they began to share their feelings and forgive one another. Then one day during Bible study they both decided to invite Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. It was such a cherished moment that I will never forget.

One Monday morning after that, the Mom came downstairs and shared that she and her daughter had been baptized! That for a few Sunday’s she was feeling led to do it but didn’t say anything. Until that particular Sunday when she and her daughter decided it was the next step they HAD to take.

They spoke with the House Manager at church with them and asked if it would be an appropriate day for them to be baptized. Of course the manager said ”YES!” with much enthusiasm. That manager, the other Moms and children were able to watch and celebrate with them. What an amazing display of obedience to the Holy Spirit, that they followed through with being baptized, as they felt led to do for a few weeks before.

These are the moments that we work for here at Sheepfold. It’s a blessing to be a witness to all that God does through this ministry.
