Lana's Story...

I finally decided to get out of my abusive relationship. When I left, I had two small children, a black eye, bruises from head to toe, no money, and only the clothes on my back. We didn't have anywhere to go, no place to sleep and no food to eat. I felt abandoned by everyone, hopeless and alone.

It was the by the grace of God that we were led to the Sheepfold. Since I have been here, I have learned some of the most important tools for life. I have grown so much spiritually and emotionally. I have learned to let go and let God. The daily Bible studies were so helpful. They have helped me understand the Word of God and how important it was in my daily life.

The House Managers and staff became like a family to me. I felt comfortable to laugh and cry with them. I knew I could talk and pray with them about anything. They have become such great influences in my life.

My tears of pain have become tears of joy. My life did a complete turn around and the blessings seemed to just rain down on me. The Lord blessed me with a car, and now we are about to move into our new home. I now know that God had never left or abandoned me. I am out on my own now and miss my Sheepfold family. I am eternally grateful for everyone who supports the Sheepfold, because it is their support that allows the Sheepfold to help people like me and my family.

Thank you, Sheepfold, for all your love and support!

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

In light of it being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we thought it would be pertinent to give an overview of what domestic violence looks like in a relationship. Domestic abuse is a pattern of coercive behavior used to establish power and control over another person through fear and intimidation, often including the threat or use of violence. The most common acts of domestic violence generally fall into one or more of the following categories: physical battery, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, psychological battery, legal abuse and economic abuse.

Our special request this month is to add the Sheepfold to your prayer list. Please pray for our staff, for our residents and their children, and for the women and children that are currently stuck in a domestic violence situation. Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit open doors for them to get out of their situation and get help, Lord willing from the Sheepfold.

If you or someone you know is affected by domestic violence encourage them to seek out help. If you have questions or need more information about the Sheepfold program, give us a call today at 1-877-SHEEPFOLD.

Would You Like to Adopt a Family for Christmas?

At Christmas we provide a joyous and Christ-filled holiday for the women and children staying at the Sheepfold. We are able to do this with the help of individuals and companies who generously donate gifts or participate in our Adopt-A-Family (AAF) program.

Adopting a family means providing a portion of the gifts a family receives Christmas morning. When you call or email, you will be provided with information which includes an AAF number (to protect the family's identity), ages, sizes and gift suggestions from a family's Wish List.

The deadline to drop off the unwrapped gifts for the AAF program is Thursday, December 7th. This allows us enough time to organize, wrap and transport the gifts to the homes for Christmas morning.

Please call (714) 237-1444 or email kathy@thesheepfold.org to participate in the AAF program or for more information. You may also check our website for our Registry or general Gift List.

Christmas Volunteers

It's that time of year again! We can hardly believe it. Christmas is just around the corner, and it is time to start preparing for all that goes into blessing the families of the Sheepfold during the Christmas season. Christmas is a giant undertaking for us and we can use all the hands we can get in order to make Christmas a special experience for our families.

During the Christmas season we need some awesome volunteers to help our staff with sorting, organizing, and wrapping Christmas gifts. There are many opportunities to serve this Christmas season. If you are interested in serving with the Sheepfold whether this will be your first Christmas with us or your 25th, we are excited to have you come alongside us during this season.

For more information or to sign up to become a Christmas Volunteer, simply email our Volunteer Coordinator at ChristinaCruz@thesheepfold.org.

We cannot wait to hear from you. Merry Christmas!
