The Legacy of a Vacuum Cleaner...
Our donors are a tremendous blessing to us. They bless us in so many ways that words cannot express how grateful we are to them. We have new donors and donors that have been partnering with us for years. This is a story of one of those long-time donors.
Larry met our founder, Fran Lundquist in the early 80's and his connection with Fran made such an impact that he began donating to the ministry.
As one of our staff recalls, about 10 years ago a House Manager shared with her that the vacuum at the house was dying and they could desperately use a new one. There was not one available at the office, so the two staff members decided to pray and ask God for a new vacuum cleaner – somewhat lightheartedly. Well, within 72 hours, Larry arrived at the front door with a brand-new vacuum cleaner; little did he know that God had used him to answer a prayer and provide for a specific need for one of our shelters.
Over the years our staff would love seeing Larry periodically at our office to drop off his vacuum. When asked how he would know when to purchase a vacuum, because they always seemed to arrive when most needed, he shared that he would wait for them to go on sale at Sears. We later discovered that Larry would collect cans to recycle and use the funds to purchase the vacuums for the shelters.
Recently, we had a gentleman come to our office to drop off a vacuum, but it was not Larry. As we welcomed him and he introduced himself, it turned out it was Larry's son. Larry had gone to be with the Lord a few months back and while going through his father's things he found an envelope. The envelope had Sheepfold written on it and inside was the exact amount for a new vacuum. So to honor his father's memory he went out and bought a vacuum to donate to the shelters. We are so thankful to his son for honoring his father in this way! Larry's legacy is more than donated vacuum cleaners, it's also having a generous spirit that desires to serve in whatever way God calls. Well done good and faithful servant!

Would You Like To Adopt A Family for Christmas?
At Christmas we provide a joyous and Christ-filled holiday for the women and children staying at the Sheepfold. We are able to do this with the help of individuals and companies who generously donate gifts or participate in our Adopt A Family (AAF) program.
Adopting a family means providing a portion of the gifts a family receives Christmas morning. When you call or email, you will be provided with information which includes an AAF number (to protect the family's identity), ages, sizes and gift suggestions from a family's Wish List.
The deadline to drop off the unwrapped gifts for the AAF program is Monday, December 9th. This allows us enough time to organize, wrap and transport the gifts to the homes for Christmas morning.
Please call (714) 237-1444 or email andrea@thesheepfold.org to participate in the AAF program or for more information. You may also check our website for our Registry or general Gift List.
