God Answered My Prayer |
|
After 10 years of abuse I found myself not providing for my daughter’s physical or emotional needs because I was trying to numb myself just to survive. It was at that point God started to place people in my life to help me find a way out.
I was led to call Sheepfold and the office staff was instantly so warm and loving over the phone. After my interviews and acceptance, we moved into our home. My daughter and I have been here at Sheepfold for 4 months. In that relatively short period of time my daughter and I have grown substantially. God started to move in me while I was in an emergency shelter, but that was nothing compared to what happened at Sheepfold. Reading and studying the Word of God everyday with the women at the house and reading from the Children’s Bible nightly with my daughter started a change inside me.
As I more fully understood who God is, how He loves and shows love, things have unfolded for me. I have had an extensive legal battle associated with the abuse that had occurred, and God opened the door for me to receive free legal help. My daughter and I have been granted a year’s protection from him. I trusted that God wanted us out and in order to do that I needed a miracle and He provided. That is one of so many, and I mean literally MANY miracles since I left my home. God is so faithful, the perfect example of everything that love is.
Now I am in a whole new relationship with God and the best part is it’s translating to my daughter. During Christmas she said she wanted a Bible. I asked her, “Why, you already have one, we read it every night?” She said, “But my Daddy needs one Mommy.” At her sweet age of four she knows the changing power that the Word of God offers. My religious understanding prior to coming to Sheepfold was that I had to be perfect in order to be blessed. However, as I get into a true relationship with God, I am learning that though I am not perfect, He loves me when I don’t love myself. He strengthens me when I am too tired to go through my list of daily demands. He listens when I pray to Him. He’s my best friend and with all my imperfections, He loves me. I thank Him for all the many people that He led to help my daughter and I – without Him and them, I’d still be in an abusive relationship. Thank you, God, for your goodness.
This mom and her daughter have since graduated to our 2nd Step Program and are doing well.
But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.

Thank You Everyone...
Thank you so much for the birthday presents! I am so delighted and blessed! It’s exactly what I asked for. God knows me best.
It’s such a privilege and honor to be here at the Sheepfold. More of a blessing to have been thought of on my birthday. I didn’t expect anything and then you surprised me. I’m so happy, my heart is filled with joy and comfort. I couldn’t ask for more.
Thank you so much to all God’s people working to help and provide for me and my family! I’m very grateful. Have a beautiful day and God bless you!

House Manager’s Note: She said she felt very special this was her first peaceful and sober birthday. She received a necklace as one of her gifts. She is going to wait until she is baptized this Sunday to wear it.
