Veronica's Story...

At the age of 13 I started hanging around with the wrong people. I ended up using drugs and getting into trouble. At age 14 I met my husband and had my first child when I was 16 years old. My life did not get better, but harder because now I had a husband that had problems and a baby to take care of. Two years later I had another baby. I was still on drugs and still having babies. I loved my children but was not able to take care of them the way I should have.

By the time I was 19 years old I had 3 children and because I was still on drugs my children were taken away. I was ordered to attend parenting classes, and I knew I had to change my life. I wanted to get my kids back so I did as the courts ordered. I got an apartment and tried to be a good mother. By the time I hit 21 I had four children. No matter how hard I tried I just could not stay away from drugs, so I went to a Christian rehab where I was able to keep my kids with me. After I completed the program, I called the Sheepfold and was accepted.

At the Sheepfold we have a nice clean room, good food and everything that my children and I could possibly need. I have learned how to take care of my children and how to deal with my anger. I have completed my six months here at the shelter and now I can start a new clean life. I have an apartment that I will be moving into and the Sheepfold has given me a lot of nice furnishings for my new apartment.

My children have changed and so have I. No more drugs, no more anger, no more yelling and no more bad life. I have learned about Jesus and all the good things that He has for me. I have learned that I can have a new life and I don't have to keep looking back, I need to keep looking forward. I am 22 now and have a lot of responsibility, but I know I can make it. I love my children and I know that Jesus loves us. I am so glad I came here because my life was really changed.

Thank you, Jesus, for changing my life.

Evelyn's Story...

I was able to go to my Senior Homecoming dance this past fall all thanks to the Sheepfold. Before I came to the Sheepfold I kept worrying I wouldn't be able to make it to my Senior Homecoming dance, but God made it happen through the Sheepfold. The staff made it such a great experience.

The Sheepfold bought me a dress and shoes for the dance, and a wonderful volunteer helped me with a car service so that I would have a safe ride there and back home safely. I had the best time! Thank you, Sheepfold, for making it possible!

God Bless You, Kathy!

The Sheepfold recently celebrated the retirement of one of our long-time staff members, Kathy; she served at the Sheepfold faithfully for over 30 years!

Kathy is a tender-hearted child of God. She is truly selfless and never self-serving, always putting others before herself and shining brightly in this dark world. She exhibited the fruits of the Spirit in all that she did. Like our Founder, Fran Lundquist, she was gifted in discernment and kindness. She extended her mother-like wisdom, grace and heart to all she met.

When Kathy started working at the Sheepfold, she worked out of the Tustin office as the Volunteer Coordinator. Over time her role shifted to coordinating intake of new residents, talking to women in crisis on the phone and conducting in-person interviews; she met with hundreds of families over the years, offering her warmth to all of them.

Kathy was also the organizer and planner of all things “fun” for Sheepfold! She was the elf behind our Adopt A Family program, she organized picnics and pool parties for our residents, and planned staff parties. She also worked diligently to make sure our monthly newsletter was written, edited, printed, and sent out on time each and every month for many, many years.

The Sheepfold has been blessed to have her as such an imperative part of the ministry and is grateful for her servant-hearted spirit.

Kathy, thank you for your faithful service to the Lord!
