'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
It seems really safe at this house and I know
That my mommy was worried where we would go.
As I lay here all nestled and snug in my bed
I think about what the nice lady had said.
She said that a man used to live on the Earth
And tomorrow's the day we rejoice in His birth.
She told me His name but I sort of forget;
If I heard it again, I'd remember, I bet.
Then all of a sudden, there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
I thought for a second my daddy was here
And I didn't know whether to hide or to cheer.
I looked for his car but saw nothing at all,
And sighed with relief, as I saw on the wall
A picture of someone, I think it was Him
I couldn't be sure 'cause the lights were so dim.
He had a warm face, and such beautiful eyes
I wondered if they too, could be full of lies.
But then I remembered again what she said
And I knew it was safe as I crawled into bed.
The pajamas they gave us were fuzzy and warm,
Not like my other one, tattered and torn.
I couldn't stop thinking that Christmas was here
And how it was going to be better this year.
I knew there'd be presents under the tree
And couldn't believe that one might be for me.
I heard someone say we'd have turkey and pie,
And all of the food we eat God will supply.
I like this new place, and my mommy does too,
I'm glad she can sleep now, after what she's been through
I hope we talk more about the man on the wall -
Oh yeah! Now I remember it all!
She said that He paid for us such a big price
And that He was my King, and was Jesus the Christ.
I'm glad that tomorrow's His birthday because
No one can love us the way Jesus does.
