A Beautiful Adopt-A-Family Story...

I want to share an amazing testimony of God’s faithfulness to the women here at the Sheepfold. A few months before Christmas the residents are asked to fill out a Christmas Gift Wish list. Donors adopt families, buy gifts, turn them in, volunteers wrap them up and house managers pick them up to store them at the houses for the big day!

Well, on Christmas day, one of the residents had to go pick her daughter up from visitation. She shares the stroller for her daughter with her ex-husband. It is her main form of transportation with her daughter because she has no vehicle. She walks miles all over the city, taking it on and off the bus and it is very important to her quality of life. She needs to get around to various locations to complete all the tasks she has that help her move forward towards independence.

On Christmas morning she was already sad because she didn’t get to wake up with her daughter on Christmas for the first time ever because of the visitation orders. After she picked her daughter up from visitation, she became very down because her ex-husband had forgotten to return her stroller when he came to drop their daughter off after visitation. I tried to encourage her and reminded her that we have other strollers at the house. She said she knew. It was just that hers had larger wheels which made it easier to push. This made a huge difference for her.

When they got back to the house, they headed straight for the Christmas tree. Her daughter begins to open her Christmas presents. She was so excited at every special blessing she saw! Stocking, scooter, princess doll, shoes, clothes, pajamas, tea set and more.

Then Mom started to open her big present. And inside of that HUGE box that she had unknowingly been walking past in the garage for a week, was the same exact brand, model and color of stroller which was not returned just one hour before! Her eyes lit up and then she laughed and cried at the same time. And we talked about what an amazing provider God is! That she had put the stroller on her Christmas list almost two months before. That God had known her need before she even knew it, and how she could see He went before her and prepared the way, provided the stroller for her because He loves her so much.

This is confirmation that He is with her, hears her, sees her, so she is not lacking a thing. She was overwhelmed and so thankful. God saw her need and filled it long before He let us in on the secret. He knew what she needed! God’s timing is perfect!

It’s so amazing and warms my heart seeing how God’s love meets the needs of the moms and kids here at Sheepfold in such incredible ways. God bless you all for your prayers and support!
